"Thousands" of US Troops head to Israel: the Iran Crisis deepens
Reports are emerging of pretty much unprecedented US troop movements into Israel in preparation for joint exercises with the Israeli military. The focus of the exercise is on missiles, but its timing is inevitably tied up with the growing Iran Crisis, and the idea of greatly enhanced co-operation between a belligerent Israel and an equally- angry US will be interpreted in one way by Iran, which is already smarting as a result of US sanctions against it. A disturbing space to be watched.

Clearly, there must always be a market to keep the US armament biz prospering, sick, sick....
ReplyDeleteWhen Saddam Hussein was indiscriminately attacking Israel with Scud missiles in the 1990's, the Israelis agreed not to retaliate only because the US offered the Patriot defence system to protect Israel. This averted the escalation of military conflict in the Middle East.

ReplyDeleteIran is a similar threat to Israel as was Hussein in the 1990's..
ReplyDeleteOK: and perhaps if Israel has supported an effective solution to the Palestinian issue, rather than consistently exacerbating it, the problem with Iran might not exist.
