NZOA: National par for course

Of course National has spooked our broadcast authorities over "political bias" around the election. National, like much Conservatism, is no lover of true free speech or, indeed, of a "free market of ideas". As all purportedly market-driven ideologies turn out, they are as interventionist as any social-democratic governments, and much more likely to intervene, or threaten to (in the guise of protecting democracy), on behalf of their interests as an Labour-led government. Remember - free market ideologists legislate , and free market ideologists define free speech as that of the propertied classes. Once one has understood this, the media brouhaha becomes comprehensible!

  1. RW - you conveniently overlook the EFB prior to the 2008 election where Clark, Cullen, The Greens and Winston First actually succeeded in stifeling free speech in the lead up to that election.

While it was repealed and partially adjusted by NACT it still needs more work as I made clear to my Electorate MP Craig Foss.

The actions of the aforementioned Clark and co bordered on corrupt with that legislation.
